Probate granted to Mary Hoade natural and legitimate daughter of the
said deceased 20th June 1677 He was buried on 29 May 1677 in Rudgwick Sussex. (303) There is the death of an "Old HOAD" noted in the registers in 1661, and this may be Richard's father. He may be the Thomas HOAD married to Alyse who are recorded in Wisborough Green, and could be living with his son Richard after the death of Alyse?? He was married to Judith UNKNOWN about 1628 in Rudgwick Sussex. (304)

513. Judith UNKNOWN was born about 1600 in Rudgwick Sussex.(305) She died on 17 Oct 1670 in Rudgwick Sussex.(306) Children were:

child i. Susan HOAD was born on 6 Dec 1629 in Nuthurst, Sussex. (307)
child ii. Judeth HOAD was born on 11 Dec 1631 in Rudgwick Sussex. (308) She was buried in 1704 in Billingshurst. (309) Contact was made in March of 2002 through the Sussex Family Historian with a Dick Nye, who was requesting information on the families into which the NYEs married. The following is a transcription of the e-mail received from him regarding Judith and I am very grateful to him for this.
As it so happens I can fill in quite a few details about your Judith HOAD.She married Thomas NYE in Billingshurst 26th April 1656. He died in 1683 and was buried in Billingshurst 18th December 1683, being described in the parish register as Thomas Nye, Gent, of Sandfields. Letters of Administration were granted in 1684 to his relict Judith, the estate being valued at £48.14.8d. (I guess this means estate excluding the property). I have no record of any Baptisms of their children, but there was clearly one girl - Mary (see below) Judith died in 1704, and the following is a summary of her Will.
£100 to grandaughter Elixabeth NAPPER, daughter of James NAPPER at 21 or marriage, plus specified items of furniture and 4 guineas. To grandson John NAPPER, son of James, all lands in Billingshurst called Saintfields, in occupation of John SHARMAN, the house to the West, 3 guineas and my gold ring. If either dies all to the survivor. Rest of my lands and interest of my money ro be divided equally between John and Elizabeth NAPPER. To brother Thomas HOAD of Rudgwick and brother John HOAD of Warnham one shilling each. If both John and Elizabeth NAPPER die without issue then Saintfields to go to my cousin George OATWAY, son of George and Mary, and the house to the West to go to John OATWAY, son of George of Billingshurst. If George inherits he is to pay £10 each to my cousins Judith and Richard OATWAY. Executor John NAPPER, trustees John IRELAND of Rudgwick and John SHARMAN of Billingshurst - to get 10 shillings each.
Mary NYE married James NAPPER on 20 November 1688 and presumably pre-deceased her mother, leaving two children. The property is very clearly Saintfields in Judith's Will so I believe the 'Sandfields' in the parish register is not correct. I have not establishe whereabouts in Billingshurst Saintfields was, nor can I be certain which of several Thomases was the one who married Judith. He might have been a nephew of my direct ancestor Soloman NYE who was born in Billingshurst in 1631. He was the third son of Richard NYE of Priors Farm Billingshurst who died in 1651. Best wishes Richard NYE

child iii. Richard HOAD was born before 1631 in Rudgwick Sussex. (310)
child iv. John HOAD was born on 27 Oct 1633 in Rudgwick Sussex. (311) There is a second John born to the family in 1639, and from this fact I deduce that this John probably died as an infant. However I have not yet found the burial entry.
child256 v. Thomas HOAD.
child vi. James HOAD was born on 2 Jul 1637 in Rudgwick Sussex. (312)
child vii. Jane HOAD was born on 25 Feb 1638 in Rudgwick Sussex.
child viii. John HOAD was born on 12 Jan 1640 in Rudgwick Sussex. John is left one shilling in the Will of his sister Judith who married Thomas NYE of Billingshurst, the same amount goping to his brother Thomas of Rudgwick. Judith describes him as 'my brother John HOAD of Warnham' so he hd obviously left the family village of Rudgwick, perhaps to marry in Warnham?
child ix. Mary HOAD was born on 22 Jan 1643 in Rudgwick Sussex.
