12. Timothy MORTLOCK ⁽³⁶⁾ was born on 27 Jun 1841 in Hundon Suffolk. ⁽¹⁸⁾ Look in Scrapbook for Timothy's birth certificate. He died on 21 Feb 1907 in Hundon. ⁽³⁷⁾ Timothy and his family were living at The Cottages,Hundon at the time of the 1881 Census. Against his burial entry in the chruch registers is written (ex Babel Green). He was married to Sarah ELSDEN on 1 Jun 1867 in Hundon. ⁽³⁸⁾ Look in Scrapbook for Marriage Certificate.

13. Sarah ELSDEN was born in 1846 in Hundon Suffolk. Children were:

i. Elizabeth MORTLOCK⁽¹⁸⁾ was born in 1869 in Hundon Suffolk. At the age of 12, on the 1881 Census, Elizabeth was living with her parents and the rest of the family at The Cottages, Hundon.
ii. George MORTLOCK was born in 1870 in Hundon. He died on 30 Sep 1878 in Hundon. ⁽³⁹⁾
iii. Clara MORTLOCK was born on 8 Apr 1873 in Hundon. ⁽⁴⁰⁾
iv. Harriett MORTLOCK was born in 1875 in Hundon Suffolk. ⁽¹⁸⁾ In 1881, at the age of 6, she is living at The Cottages Hundon with her parents and the rest of the family..

vi. George MORTLOCK⁽¹⁸⁾ was born in 1879 in Hundon Suffolk. On the 1881 Census, he was living with his parents at The Cottages Hundon as a tot of 2 years.
vii. Hannah Annie MORTLOCK was born in 1881 in Hundon Suffolk. Hannah does not appear on the 1881 Census, having been born afer Census day.
viii. Peter MORTLOCK was born in 1883 in Hundon Suffolk. He died on 2 Oct 1916 in France WW1.⁽³⁶⁾ In Memory of

Location: Aire is a town about 14 kilometres south-south-east of St. Omer. The Communal Cemetery is 0.75 kilometres north of the town, on the road to St. Omer and the 4 British plots are on the east side.


Historical Information: In Aire Communal Cemetery, Plot 1 contains the whole of the British burials from March 1915 to February 1918, when the town was a busy but peaceful centre used as Corps Headquarters and sheltering the Highland Casualty Clearing Station, the 39th Stationary Hospital (from May 1917), and from time to time other medical units. Plots II, III and IV are due to the fighting of 1918, when the 54th Casualty Clearing Station came to the town and Aire was, for a time, within thirteen kilometres of the German lines and suffered some damage. There are now over 900, 1914-18 and 20, 1939-45 war casualties commemorated in this site. Of these, a small number from the 1939-45 War are unidentified. The British plots cover an area of 1,229 square metres.
