Francis DUMBRELL was born about 1605 in Wivelsfield Sussex. ⁽³¹³⁾ He was married to Lucy PATCHING on 14 Sep 1631 in Horsham Sussex. ⁽³¹⁴⁾ The marriage was by Licence This was in fact Francis' second marriage. The first had been to an Elizabeth NUTLEY on 18 October 1626 in Wivelsfield, the daughter of Edmund NUTLEY. This marriage had resulted in the birth of a son on 2 December 1627 in Wivelsfield, who died 11 July 1697 in Chailey. Whether Elizabeth died at the birth of this son is not known, but Francis went on to marry Lucy PATCHING as recorded in 1631.

iv. John DUMBRELL was born on 15 Mar 1640 in Portslade Sussex. ⁽³²¹⁾ He died on 6 Aug 1640 in Portslade Sussex. ⁽³²²⁾
v. Margaret DUMBRELL was born on 15 Mar 1640 in Portslade Sussex. ⁽³²³⁾ She died on 10 Apr 1640 in Portslade Sussex. ⁽³²⁴⁾
